I always stress about picking out my FDO, or first day outfit. The week before school starts I am constantly thinking about what I should wear. People sometimes ask me what I think they should wear or what I am wearing on the first day, so I thought I would share some of my tips on picking out your FDO, and feeling great the first day back.
1. Pick an outfit that you won't have to think about
What I mean by this is don't wear a piece that you will have to pull and tug at all day long, or worry if its too long of too short. Wear something that will not fail you in that regard. I recommend ditching an off the shoulder shirt( but I'm not sure I would wear that to school anyway!), something that requires a staples bra, anything that you think might be getting too short, or anything better suited for temperatures below 50 or 60 degrees.
2. Try it on
Always, always, always try your outfits on in advance, especially for the first day. You don't want the added stress and panic in the morning of trying something on, realizing it looks terrible, and scrambling to find something else to wear that you don't love.
3. Talk to your friends
Ask your friends or sisters, aunts, cousins or your mom for their opinions of your outfit. Always wear what YOU want and don't let anyone else define your style. However, trying it on for others will allow for you to make sure your outfit is not too low, too, short or too tight. Ask yourself, "how would I feel if mom or grandma saw me in this?"

This is right up my alley for my first day outfit. What outfit makes you feel the most confident on the first day?
